ICMR-NIE, Chennai is accepting online applications for 8 scientist posts under advertisement ICMR/NIE/01/2026-RPCell. The deadline is 26 November 2026 at 5:30 pm. These are specialist positions with different medical, non-medical and veterinary requirements; a general graduate degree alone does not establish eligibility.

Relevant research experience is desirable for the Scientist-B positions. The two Medical B vacancies comprise one UR and one SC post; Disease Modelling B has one UR post, and Veterinary B has one EWS post. Age limits and pay scales
- Scientist-D: maximum age 45 years; Pay Level 12, ₹78,800–2,09,200.
- Scientist-C: maximum age 40 years; Pay Level 11, ₹67,700–2,08,700.
- Scientist-B: maximum age 35 years; Pay Level 10, ₹56,100–1,77,500.
These figures are pay scales, not promised take-home salaries. Apply the notification’s eligibility cut-off and government age-relaxation rules to your own circumstances. The posts carry an all-India transfer liability.
How to assess your experience
The notification’s notes allow experience credit of four years for a PhD and three years for MD/MS or an equivalent qualification. Time spent obtaining the minimum essential qualification is excluded from that credit. MPH and M.Tech are not counted as experience.
Read the full note before adding periods together. Do not count the same period twice or assume that every higher degree automatically meets a post’s experience requirement.
Application fee, selection and documents
The application fee is ₹1,500. SC, ST, women, PwD and EWS applicants are exempt. Selection may involve a computer-based test, an interview, or both. If a CBT is held, the notification specifies a qualifying research-methods test with a 75th-percentile requirement.
Keep evidence of your degree, specialisation, experience and applicable reservation category ready. Applicants employed in government or public institutions should also read the NOC requirement for the personal discussion. Names, institutions and employment dates should agree across the form and supporting documents.

- Register using accurate details and retain the registration confirmation.
- Sign in, complete the application sections and upload the requested supporting documents.
- Check whether the fee applies to your category before making payment.
- Review the completed form, submit it and save the final application confirmation.
Do not submit a form on the assumption that your name or qualifications can easily be changed later. The advertisement warns that duplicate applications from the same candidate can be cancelled.
Payment deducted but not reflected?
The recruitment portal instructs applicants not to pay again. Send the transaction details to query.rpcell@icmr.gov.in and wait 72 hours. This is a troubleshooting instruction, not a guarantee of a refund. The portal lists rcell.hq@icmr.gov.in for administrative queries.
