To check your PMFBY application, keep the receipt issued when you enrolled and start at the official crop-insurance portal. The receipt helps identify the correct application and crop season. An application approval is useful information, but it should not be read as confirmation that a crop-loss claim has been paid.

Sources checked: 25 October 2026. This practical guide explains application tracking and how to organise a follow-up. It is not an announcement of a nationwide beneficiary list, a new payment release or a single registration deadline for every state.
What to keep beside you
- Your enrolment receipt or acknowledgement.
- The relevant crop season and year.
- The state, district, crop and insured land details recorded in the application.
- The insurer named on your policy, if it has been issued.
- Any earlier complaint or crop-loss reporting reference.
These details help separate an old application from the current season. If a bank or CSC enrolled you, ask that office for a copy of the receipt rather than relying on a number forwarded in an unrelated message.
How to check PMFBY application status
The government’s PMFBY application-tracking guidance describes checking the application using the receipt reference. Start at pmfby.gov.in and look for Application Status.
- Use the reference on your own enrolment acknowledgement.
- Enter the details requested by the current official page and complete its verification yourself.
- Compare the returned season, location and application details with your receipt.
- Note the displayed stage and save a dated copy for your records.
The portal’s layout may change. During this check, its homepage could not be loaded reliably, so these steps use the official published tracking guidance rather than a claim that every current screen was tested.
Application status and claim status answer different questions
Application tracking concerns enrolment, premium processing and insurer approval. A crop-loss claim involves a separate assessment and settlement process. A successful application payment should not be interpreted as money credited to your bank account for crop damage.
For a claim enquiry, identify the insurer and keep any loss-intimation or claim reference with the policy details. Ask which stage is pending and which record the response refers to. This is more useful than asking only whether your “PMFBY status” is approved.
Crop damage: do not wait for an online status update
For applicable localised and post-harvest losses, the government’s PMFBY Operational Guidelines 2023 provide a 72-hour reporting requirement and identify the Crop Insurance App and the Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline, 14447, as primary routes. Check your notified cover and contact the insurer promptly; not every kind of loss follows the same claim process.
Keep a record of when and how you reported the event. Reporting a loss starts the relevant process; it does not guarantee eligibility or a particular compensation amount. The applicable policy, notified risk and assessment determine the outcome.
What to ask when a record is missing or unchanged
First, check that the receipt belongs to the right season. If the record still cannot be found, contact the enrolling bank or CSC, or your insurer, with the acknowledgement. Ask whether the application was submitted, whether a correction is needed and which office is responsible for the next step.
For a complaint, write a short factual message: your application reference, season, crop, the displayed problem and the date of your previous contact. Keep the response and ticket number in the same folder. The guidelines also provide a grievance route through the Krishi Rakshak system.
A quick example
If last season’s application is approved but you are checking damage to this season’s crop, the old approval does not answer your question. Start with this season’s acknowledgement and policy, then identify whether you need enrolment support, loss reporting or a claim update.
If you also use Maharashtra agricultural services, a Farmer ID and a PMFBY application reference serve different purposes. Do not replace one with the other unless the relevant official form specifically asks for it.
Keep your follow-up organised
Use one folder per season, with receipts, policy details, dated status copies and complaint references. Our document and form review checklist includes general record-keeping tips, while PMFBY’s own guidance governs crop-insurance requirements. Keep full Aadhaar numbers, bank details and OTPs out of public comments.
For Maharashtra farmers who need help with identity registration or a missing login OTP, see the Farmer ID Maharashtra registration and OTP guide. Farmer ID approval and PMFBY enrolment or claim status are separate checks; use the reference belonging to the service you are following up.
